PARIS, France – October 2nd, 2018. Sigfox, the world’s leading provider of connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the expansion of its global network to five new countries, bringing the total number of countries to 50.

Austria, Lichtenstein, Romania, Norway, and Kenya are the latest additions to Sigfox’s global IoT network, after Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Malaysia, South Korea, Hungary, Switzerland and the UAE. With these latest additions, Sigfox is on track to reach 60 countries by the end of 2018.

The Sigfox network will be deployed and operated by four strategic partners:

We are delighted to welcome these new operators into the global IoT ecosystem. Thanks to them, and all the others before them, we now hold a unique position in the European IoT market. It means that we touch our goal of creating a worldwide network able to support business both locally and globally.” said Emma Park, Vice President Europe at Sigfox.

These local operators will play a key role in the development of the IoT industry in their market, by expanding the network infrastructure to provide national coverage in their country and accelerating adoption though they work with start-ups and students.

“Sigfox believes that the future for the IoT lies in “mass IoT”, where billions of everyday objects are connected to the Internet. Its reliable, global network provides energy-efficient and cost-effective connectivity, thus allowing companies to generate additional revenues, by not only improving their performance but also creating new business models.” added Nicolas Andrieu, Vice President Middle East & Africa at Sigfox.
